While researching this company I found several online postings saying it’s a scam. At any rate, it’s certainly a marketing ploy, like the official-looking letters I get offering to renew and “protect” my domain name for 10x what I’m currently paying. If I wanted to register my domain in China, I could just do it. I think I’ll skip it, though.

Here’s the response from Tom Qin:
It appears that the way to help them “handle this issue better” is for me to pay to license these domains. Sounds exactly like the original come-on from Internet Brand Justice & Safety Dept. Since it’s been nearly 3 years since the original message said someone had applied to register my domains in Asia and they haven’t been registered yet I’m not too worried. I might feel differently if I did business in Asia.
I got the same email this morning..and told them YES I have authorized Spd Investment Corp to register those names 🙂 hahah let’s see how they respond now.
I got the same email a week ago but with diferent “company”.
(If you are not in charge of this please transfer this urgent email to your President & CEO, thanks.)

After our preliminary investigation, we found the brand name and these domain names being applied are as same as your company’s, so we wonder whether your company consigned UNK Invest Ltd to register these domain names with us?

Please consider the environment before you print this e-mail.
I just called Ethan Jiang and he actually answered the phone, he seemed a little surprised! I was surprised that the phone number actually worked! He then quickly asked me who i worked for and when i asked him what he wanted he said “Did you read the email?” Of course i did that is why i am calling. I asked him if he read my email, he said he did and what i wanted. I said to discuss Pestil Investment Co. and what information he wanted. He then quickly said he had all the information he needed.
This is the 2nd email i have received from domain services offered in China.
Since i live in Chengdu i just might look up the address.
