In order to deal with this issue better,Please let the Principal contact us directly and as soon as possible if you considered these domain names and internet brand are important to you and there was necessary to protect them by registering them first.

While researching this company I found several online postings saying it’s a scam. At any rate, it’s certainly a marketing ploy, like the official-looking letters I get offering to renew and “protect” my domain name for 10x what I’m currently paying. If I wanted to register my domain in China, I could just do it. I think I’ll skip it, though.
I also received the exact email. Thanks for confirming it’s a scam! I thought it was, but couldn’t be sure.
I received the same email as well. Mr. Mellon has cranked up his marketing methods and is being quite persistent and assertive. Sure hope this is a scam. Has anyone figured out the potential damage if it is for real?
If you care about the Chinese market,you can register your trademark with the USPTO (USPTO.gov) (official fees about $275) and then, within six months, have a Chinese attorney register it in China.
In any event, the telephone number offered above appears to be Beijing, but the whois database lists Hong Kong (without providing street address information). Likely a scam.
I received exactly the same mail by some Mr. Slim. After I refused to register, he kept insisting saying that even if I give up the protection of my domain names, I should protect my Internet Brand. His message said “I hope you are aware of importance of Internet Brand which is a kind of network brand and a stretch of brand which can protect the right of real trademark from being infringed. Internet Brand keyword is real-world brand’s extension in the network”. The message came from the following supposed organization:

I know this is probably a scam. Does anyone have any information about this Internet Brand keyword. Does something like that exist?

Your “Internet Brand” is, essentially, your online reputation. Someone (maybe even this company?) could register your domain name in another country and use it for any purpose, potentially undermining your brand. Someone could also register it and try to sell it to you at a higher price than the going rate (aka cybersquatting). It’s worth protecting your brand in countries where you do, or plan to do, business. But the Internet Brand Safety & Justice Dept is only one of many domain name registrars. I don’t do, or plan to do, business in China, so I am ignoring this “offer.”

only signed by “Mr. Benjamin Gates” !!!. Probably somebody from Mr. Gates family.

Seems that the guys at the Internet Brand Safety & Justice Dept. are doign an excellent job of identifying so many organizations that have been trying to register under various company names. I received a message from Mr. Thomas Mellon advising me that another organization was trying to register under our corporate brand name.
Mind you – the person who thought this scam up should receive top marks… it is musch more convincing than the Nigerian money scam.

Mine came dated 7 Jan 09 signed by Frites Philips, Senior Consulting Director of the Internet Brand and Justice Department of ANIC but the email sender is Alfred.Samuelson@NameBrandSolutions.com. It sounded like a scam to me which is how I found this website. I don’t intend responding. – BH
I just got the identically worded email from “Alfred Samuelson,” who seems to share the same grammatical shortcomings as the other people signing the letters. Definitely a scam.

I don’t see this as a scam like a Nigerian money fraud (aka 419 scams). For all I know, they’re offering a genuine service (although no one has posted saying they’re a happy client). But it’s a service that most of us don’t need — I don’t. And if I did, I’m confident I could get it elsewhere for less.
Judging by the number of views this post has received, they’ve certainly spammed a lot of people with their offer. I hope most recipients do their research before deciding they need it.

If you do business in China or want to protect your domain names there, you might really want to register those domains. But you should shop around to make sure you’re paying a fair price. I did a quick search and found some registrars charging about $20 per domain (and many charging a lot more). Their web site doesn’t even say what NameBrandSolutions charges.

thanks a lot for posting this, coming from Europe I hadn’t come accross this until now. But it looks pretty creative to “invent” an Internet Brand which doesn’t exist and doesn’t work either. You’re right, it’s like the registration offers you get for tons of “copyright index”, “trademark monitor”, etc. – I knew to put these away immediately, now I am glad to know this one is for the recycle bin as well (maybe even delete it from there immediately as well …. ;-))

It’s been nearly a year since I got the original message saying someone was trying to register my domain name in “Asia-Pacific” I just checked, and it’s still available in Hong Kong, China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Micronesia, Australia, Philippines, Singapore. Mongolia, Western Samoa, Tonga, etc., etc.
Received similar email from ‘Rita. In very bad english.
Don’t react. If youhave a domain name, like a dot com,nobody can take it.

1: PHDLOW company is a domain name investment company, they want to cybersquat these domain names and then sell back to you to gain profits.
2: It may be a commercial method, PHDLOW company is consigned by your competitor to register, make your clients confused.
3: PHDLOW company may be the biggest competitor of you in Asian regions or European regions who wants to invade your Asian regions or European regions market and confuse your clients as well as to disturb your website and bring harm to the profit of your company.
According to our specific auditing now, we knew you have registered the domain name ” xxxxxxxx.com ” and own the trademark ” xxxxxxxx”, this is why we informed you. But now PHDLOW company wanted to apply for other domain names and internet keyword you have not registered yet. Because domain name takes open registration, this is international domain name registration principle. So PHDLOW company has right to register it. The latest version came from “Rensis Ho” but it’s almost identical to the one that came from “Peter Fang” last October. Same street address, slightly different URL (fowa.org.cn instead of fewo.org.cn). The sender name showed as “Legal” with subject “Urgent: Concerning “rlweiner” Brand Name dispute.”
YES – and If you GOOGLE EARTH the GREEN ARK BUILDING ADDRESS – it doesnt exist – just some old crappy looking tower.. I want to hunt down this Mo Fo!.. wated my Frickin time!… ANYONE WANT TO JOIN ME?

I received the following email from a real person — I had a series of exchanges with him and have combined them into 1 message below. My response was that he should post a comment on my blog saying his company is not responsible for these spam messages. He hasn’t done that yet.

We don’t ever send the sample email appeared at your website. And we don’t know who did this, with what kind of purpose? On what grounds do you believe it’s factually correct? I think you must know the bad effecfs the email will bring to our company and that is the reason we require you to remove the malicious information .
