Lame spam of the day: USPS Delivery Confirmation

Like the American Airlines spam, this one didn't bother to include any graphics to make it look official.  Further, it shows plainly that the link goes to www.usps.com.ww062.com (note that the domain is ww062.com).  Some scammers are just lazy. Sender: auto-notify@usps.com Subject: … [Read more...]

Lame spam of the day: America Airlines ticket order

This one caught my eye for a second. I thought, "I don't remember booking anything with American lately."  The lazy spammer didn't even bother to include any graphics to make it look official.  Sender: American Airlines (information-no77537@aa.com) Subject: Your Order##91991988 Text: … [Read more...]

Lame spam of the day: Your Changelog

This one is short and appropriately signed.  So, how many people ask to have a change log sent to them?  And if they didn't, who would click the link? Sender: support@rlweiner.com (my domain -- which has no "support" account) Subject: Re: Your Changelog Text: ============== Good … [Read more...]

Lame Spam of the Day: willing to invest.

I'm charmed by the tortured grammar in this spam.  But would it have been too hard to at least make the sending email address (@gmail) match the reply-to address (@yahoo)? Sender: Robert Grant (robertgrantinvest3@gmail.com) Subject: willing to invest. Text: Top of the day to you In lieu to … [Read more...]

Lame Spam of the Day: Please stop sending spam messages onto our email

The text of this message made me smile, but the RAR attachment turned my smile upside down (no, I didn't click --- and don't you click, either).  Here's info on rar attachments: http://www.philipp-winterberg.com/software/rar_faq_phishing_fraudulent_dangerous_malicious_files.php Subject: Please … [Read more...]

Lame Spam(s) of the Day: Federal Tax payment rejected

Since spammers don't bother with list hygiene, a new variant results in multiple messages in my spam folder.  Today I got 4 versions of this spam.  That should be a dead giveaway to anyone receiving these messages. Each one had a different "tax transaction ID".  Looks like the sender … [Read more...]

Lame Spam of the Day: Loan Offer from Kiva

I guess Kiva has attained sufficient mindshare to become a phishing tool.  I hadn't realized that $5,000 to $100,000 constituted a micro-loan. Sender: Kiva Micro Financial Loan Company <kiva@yahoo.com> Subject: APPLY FOR YOUR LOAN AS LOW AS 0.2% Message: Goodday,We Offer Private, … [Read more...]

Lame spam of the day: quite every unfruitful dealing

This one must have been run through language translation software.  The English is delightfully warped. Sender: PROF. LAMIDO SANUSI (info@paksteel.com.pk) Subject: RE: URGENT ATTENTION. From The Desk Of Dr. Lamido Sanusi, (PhD Msc) The Hon. Governor Central Bank of Nigeria Plot 8321 4th … [Read more...]

Lame spam of the day: why can’t you deal with the bank?

This one is kind of charming: Sender: Samuel (samuelagbala8@xnmsn.cn) Subject: PAYMENT Dear Friend, Good day. I have some information for you about your unpaid fund, the people you are dealing with is not the original bank, why can't you deal with the bank instead of sending money to people … [Read more...]

Lame spam of the day: ATM MASTER CARD PAYMENT
