Lame spam of the day: fake Verizon notifications

October 5, 2012 by Robert Leave a Comment

I got 14 of these over the past 2 days.  I’d hope that anyone who gets emails from Verizon would see immediately that these are fake.  While they used the Verizon logo and colors, the logo is blurry, the font is wrong, the From: addresses aren’t at Verizon domains, and the English is tortured (opening line: “CONSIDERABLE ACCOUNT NOTIFICATION FROM VERIZON WIRELESS.”).

The senders have been:

Account Notify [markabri6@rfast.com]

Account Notify [effervescesdsg79@polysto.com]

Account Notify [pubertyh@scccontrols.com]

Account Notify [mochagv57@atainvest.com]

Account Notify [barbecuesiqv@canaca.com]

Account Notify [highbrowveq714@retela.co.jp]

AccountNotify [snugglingwl8@iicbelgium.com]

AccountNotify [excruciatinglyc6@rfast.com]

AccountNotify [graveren71@eurobiobiz.com]

AccountNotify [caryatidesg53@wonderware.com]

AccountNotify [electrons72@kurdogluholding.com.tr]

AccountNotify [mulberriesuei@cochamber.com]

AccountNotify [claptong5@bernina.co.il]

The subjects have been:

Recent  Notification in My Verizon

Recent Document in My Verizon

Recent  Information in My Verizon

New  Notification in My Verizon

New  Information in My Verizon

The text is similar in each one, though the intro text and account numbers have varied.  Some even use different fonts.  Here’s a sample:

This article (which includes a screenshot) says the links lead to malware.
