Beth Kanter wrote an extensive, thoughtful account of the upcoming Twestival event, which aims to raise $500,000 for the group charity:water.
As a fundraising operations geek, I wonder how this works on the back end. Will the Twestival organizers send tax receipts to the donors, or will that fall to charity:water? I hope it’s done automatically when the donation is made. If it has to be done later it could cost more than the value of the gifts.
Will charity:water get contact information for the donors so they have the opportunity to steward them and build ongoing relationships? I hope so.
Will the donors have any loyalty to charity:water? Or is this a one-time event for them? I fear it will be the latter. I hope they prove me wrong.
